Liam wasn’t supposed to be my happily ever after.
He wasn’t even on my radar.
He was my husband’s best friend—forbidden.

But my husband is dead and I’m alone. I ache for him and I reach for Liam.

One night with Liam changed everything. Now I have to decide if I truly love him or if he’s just the consolation prize.

This book will crush your heart, tear it out and stomp on it some more just for good measure.  You feel so very much for the characters during this book.  Maybe some of the grief is a little over done for my liking it just depends on who's reading it as to what you feel.
I predicted 1 of 2 endings for this book and of course a cliffhanger.  I was guessing ending #1 and got ending #2, so while being predictable I was still sort of surprised, if that makes any sense.  And what would a second book be without having a major cliffhanger at the end of the first to make people wait in anticipation.  I hate cliffhangers even when I know they are coming but it doesn't keep me from reading the story.  I have one major thing that I'm curious about and hoping that whatever Aaron left written in the letter to Liam get's explained in book 2.
The writing is well done with a strong and like-able set of characters except for maybe Aaron.  You'll see why because I try not to give spoilers.  Now, I'm off to read Conviction!  If you love SEALS, strong but broken women and love that can overcome obstacles...than start the Consolation Duet today.  You won't be sorry.
