Book Blitz: Chaotic by C.A. Williams

 Book: Chaotic
Author: CA Williams
Series: Imperfection Series Book 1

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17406110-chaotic

Adelaide McGregor was spinning out of control, in a world of pain that no one knew anything about. She put up a front, displaying a picture perfect girl that everyone wanted to be, but no one was truly there for her. Then she was sent away to live near her grandparents due to bad behavior when her mother decided she just didn't want to deal with her any longer. Without a penny to her name and no where else to go, her life was uprooted to North Carolina. Everything seems to be changing for the better with her fresh new start until she meets a guy who flips her world upside down all over again. Sometimes you have to make it through the struggles of imperfection in life for everything to come out as complete perfection, but Della hasn't quite learned that lesson yet.

I made my way out of the bathroom and instantly felt like I crashed into a brick wall. The last thought that ran through my head was that I was going to look like a complete idiot landing flat on my ass before a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist, and I was pulled against a very hard chest.

“Whoa, if you wanted me that badly you didn’t need to throw yourself at me, sweetheart. I’d be pretty willing.”

I looked up, meaning to tell off the arrogant asshole who thought I would actually throw myself at someone, but all words ceased to exist when I looked up into a pair of startling gray eyes. He pulled me closer when I failed to say anything and pushed me lightly against the wall so our bodies were flush with each others.

I caught the glint of a lip ring as he turned to stare down at me with an intense gaze that set my body on fire. He wasn’t the normal type of guy I went for. One arm was covered in an array of colorful tattoo’s and from what I could tell, he had multiple piercings. Who knew how many others there were under the tight gray V-neck and black shorts he had on? For some reason, I really wanted to find out.

“You don’t look familiar. What’s your name, sweetheart?”

“Della,” I managed to whisper out. Why in the hell was I so nervous around this guy? I had no reason to be, he was the one who should be worshipping at my feet. Right?

“Della.” My name rolled off of his tongue before he ran a thumb over my cheek and dropped his hand down to his side. “I like it. The name’s Justin and I think you and I were meant to be. Want to get out of here?”Whatever fog had been cluttering my mind, suddenly cleared, and I shook my head, pushing at his chest as I stood up taller, even though he still had to look down as he towered over me.

“Seriously? That was about the lamest pick up line I’ve ever heard. No thanks.” I turned to walk away, but he jumped in front of me and held up a finger. “Wait, that didn’t come out right. I don’t know what the fuck is wrong me, normally I’m a whole lot smoother at this.”

“So normally you pick up girls a lot easier? Good for you.” I crossed my arms over my chest and let out a loud sigh when he still didn’t move.

“C’mon, Della. Let me buy you a drink at least, I’m really not that bad of a guy. Give me a chance?” His eyebrows knitted together as he waited for my response, and I was just about to
ell him where he could stick that drink when I caught site of the table where Nash and Mariah were looking awfully cuddly. Apparently they had made up. It made my stomach coil just at the thought of having to sit there and watch the two of them together.

“Fine, follow me.” Surprisingly, he did and by the time we got back to the table with the drink he had promised me, Callie, Drew, and Zoey were also back, looking slightly uncomfortable by Mariah’s presence.

Callie’s eyes widened as Justin situated himself next to me and she kept looking back and forth between the two of us in utter confusion. I introduced Justin to everyone, and he stood up to shake everyone’s hand before sitting back down next to me and leaning in, brushing his lips against my ear. “Can you say awkward? Want to dance?”

I stood up right away, wanting to get away from the glare of Nash and Mariah’s icy smile. Sure, Justin seemed like an arrogant asshole, but tonight, he was my lifesaver. Justin led me to the center of the dance floor and I couldn’t help but notice all of the death glares I was getting from almost every single girl around me.

We were all ready just inches from each other, but he put his hands on my hips to pull me even closer against his hard, muscular body, moving the both of us to the music. I had never in my life danced with a guy like this. Chris had always just kind of stood there while I grinded against him and enjoyed the show. Justin on the other hand, moved every time I did.

I let out a gasp when he twirled my body around and pulled my back tightly against his chest. My body tingled everywhere at the sudden contact. At first, I was hesitant to be dancing with this guy I had just met, but his hands all over me gave me the confidence to move right along with him.

I slid my body up and down his to the music, and he played right along, pulling me even closer and grinding against me. I felt his hands lock onto both of my wrists, and he moved them to wrap around his neck as his hands explored the sides of my body through the clingy material of my dress. My body hummed at the warmness of his hands, and I moaned when his lips brushed against my neck. I actually moaned.

I abruptly pulled away and turned towards him, pushing into his chest. “What in the hell was that for? I did not give you permission to touch me like that.”

“Really?” he replied with a smirk, sucking that stupid lip ring into his mouth. “Because you really seemed to be enjoying it. And I was too,” he added.

I shook my head sharply, rolling my eyes before turning on my heel. “Whatever, just leave me the fuck alone. I really don’t need to be another notch on your bedpost.” I stormed off, returning to the table where now just Callie and Zoey sat, waiting expectantly. “Are you two ready to get out of here?”

“Absolutely,” they both replied simultaneously, looping their arms through mine and quickly ushering me towards the front door. “Let’s get the hell out of here.”

My first C.A. Willaims book was choatic, for sure!  This book started out sort of rough for me only because I wasn't really connecting with any of the characters, I actually disliked them.  Della was spoiled beyond belief and frustratingly immature.  Her friends, if you want to call them that, were pathetic.  Her so called Mother, ha what a joke.  I was frustrated and wanted to jump in the pages and strangle them all!
But, when Della was shipped off to North Carolina to stay with her Grandparents and go to a 4 year college, because her Mother couldn't handle her, things really started to turn around.  It was like I was reading about a totally different character.  I loved this new Della a whole lot more.  She had and still has a lot of growing up to do but she is mostly on her own now and out of her mother's clutches and she's got a great support system going for her now.
The 2 main guys in the book are Justin and Nash.  Nash has been her best friend for years since she's always spent summers with her grandparents.  She hadn't seen him in a while and now that they are both adults, there seems to be some sparks between them.  Then she meets Justin!  Justin is the bad boy on campus, he's full of tattoos and a facial piercing and he has any girl he wants.  She resists him for a while but he is persistent.  I was back and forth going from Team Nash to Team Justin throughout the entire book and still can't make up my mind.
This is a series so it goes without saying that there is a cliffhanger but the way the author ended this book is perfect, in my opinion.  The story line flowed well even while going in every conceivable direction and most of the characters were perfect, even though they'll probably make you want to choke them too.  Some other characters I would have liked more information and background about and I am hoping that we get to know more of them in the second book.  I am definitely anxiously awaiting the next book in the series now, after reading Chaotic.  You have to give this book a try, you won't regret it.  Sometimes chaos in life can  make you a stronger person.

Claiming Carter (The Carter Series #1)

Synopsis

Lily Hayes is a beautiful 3rd grade teacher who enjoys her job very much, and has an amazing best friend who keeps her entertained. The only problem in Lily's life is that she always dates lame, boring, passionless men. No one has ever brought her any adventure. No one gives her excitement, and after being cheated on by her last boyfriend, Lily is ready for a change.

A change is exactly what she finds when she meets Kelvin Carter Jr. Kelvin is everything Lily wants in a man: sexy, passionate, spontaneous, attractive, powerful, and the best sex she has ever had. He is perfect. But perfection comes with a price. Kelvin may be exactly what Lily is looking for, but he is also a branch on a Chicago mob's family tree and the son of a notorious mob boss.

When the couple commences a heart-pounding, overwhelmingly sensual relationship, Lily must decide what she desires more; love and satisfaction, or her own safety. ©

My Rating: 5 of 5 ♥'s

Review

Lily is a sweet school teacher and she, without a doubt, loves her job. She definitely needs some better luck with men though.
Kelvin is a sexy and dangerous man. He happens to be in the mob, with his father being the head boss.

Kelvin notices Lily when she is out with her best friend and fellow teacher, Lexy, one night but can’t do anything about it right then. When they bump into each other again the second time, he knows he has to have her and can’t let her go again but is it too dangerous for her? Can he ever tell her the truth about what he does for a living? Can Lily handle the truth?

This book had it all; there is danger, love, erotic sex, laughter, sadness and suspense all wrapped into one awesome enthralling book. I absolutely loved it! This is the first in the series, so it would stand to reason that there would be something of a cliffhanger at the end but I have to say that Mr. Greer did one heck of an awesome job with the ending of this book as it leaves me wanting more but not frustratingly so.
I can not wait to read more about Kelvin and Lily in book 2 and more from Mr. Greer period!

Review

This book had one of those story lines that are so good that you get sucked right in from the beginning and read straight through until you finish it. It did feel a bit rushed towards the end though; like the last ¼ of the book was just way too fast. I ended up loving the characters but I didn't start out that way (I especially didn't like Angie at the beginning). As you get told more of their history throughout the story, everything falls into place. There’s love, sex (a lot of hot sex scenes), loss, tragedy and suspense all wrapped into a wonderful book. This is my first J. Kenner book and it will not be the last. I am looking forward to Cole and Tyler's stories next.

Excerpt
As I am finally outside I can still hear the low beats of the music and I know that I am lost in my own thoughts. I hear the doors open but never look over to see who it is. Like I care, because I don’t know anyone but VI and Wyatt and I am sure she is taking Wyatt to Heaven right about now. As I am caught up in my past life, I think to myself I have to keep my past to myself. I have not even told VI everything that happened or the real reason I am back home. I know the horror stories better than anyone. Hell, I lived them. VI has questioned me why I never wear shorts or skirts. I always change the subject because it makes me cry, and I am tired of shedding tears for my past. I hate that fucking Foster family. The damn Stantons. On the outside they were the perfect white collar family, had money, and had clout within this damned city. But when we were home it was far from perfect. The boys, or assholes as I call them, tortured me in all ways. Wow, big flipping deal. They took everything from me. I have the stupid ass scars to prove it. The bastards left me for dead. Sad thing is, I would not even spit on them if they were burning alive in front me. I’d let the bastards burn. I am still lost in my own thoughts, and I never even thought about looking around to see who was out there with me. I know people are around, as I can hear muffled conversations and even someone panting like they are having sex out here in the open. I would not doubt it, as it is dark enough out here and they would have the privacy, and it is turning me on like there is a damn fire burning on the inside. I have to get some damn relief and fucking soon I think to myself, but something still feels off. I still feel as though I am being watched. I shake my head from right to left to just shake the feeling I have, when all of a sudden I turn my head more to the left and there is he is. Garrett is standing right fucking there staring at me with a look of pure animal lust in his eyes. The things I want to do this man makes my insides tingle. What the hell? Why am I feeling like this? The next thing I know, I am pushed up against the side wall by the door and the railing that leads to the parking area. He is kissing me with all his might. I am trying to fight him for all of about negative 3 seconds. His hands are going all over my body and I am so stunned by the intrusion that I can’t do anything. My hands are not moving, but my body is betraying me in all aspects. I have a tingling sensation deep down in my deepest part of my core. He is like a fucking itch I can’t scratch. My nipples are so hard they are like diamonds. I can feel the wet spot on my jeans, and all he is doing is kissing me. I am kissed like I am the last woman alive. I see shooting stars in the back of my eyes. I feel myself surrender to his kisses. I want this man so fucking bad, but I know I am not worth his time. I never thought I’d see him again much less, kissing me like there is no tomorrow... “Holy Hell,” I think to myself. I could die right now and be in heaven, but I have to fight it, because I can’t let him know he is affecting me the way that he is.

Synopsis

Cody Garrett, a former Navy SEAL, has never met a skirt he didn’t fancy. His six-pack, rugged looks and bad boy image ensures a steady stream of hot babes waiting to slip him their phone numbers wherever he goes.
So, he is confused when Bridie Barker refuses to go on a date with him.
It’s not like she’s a stunning beauty or something. According to him, her ears are big, she’s well-rounded and she’s not even a D-cup.
In spite of her shortcomings, the more she pushes him away, the more he finds himself thinking of her.

Twenty-year-old Bridie Barker has control issues. Every detail in her life is planned.
Her closet is color-coded and she has an array of storage containers, to ensure that everything is in its correct place.
Her whole world is black and white, and grey areas are a no-no.

When she meets the warm and grounded Scott Garrett, she thinks she has found her soul mate. Unfortunately, and to her disappointment, things don’t pan out with Scott.
While waiting tables, she has a disastrous run-in with his brother, Wild Boy Cody Garrett, King of Body Shots, who parties every night with a different girl.
Even though he’s good to look at and makes her laugh, she turns down his advances as he’s clearly the tag-and-release kind of guy.
Besides, she is pretty sure he owns not a single storage container, and she’s certain that his closet is not color-coded.
Problem is, Cody Garrett finds her rejection an aphrodisiac and pursues her.

Excerpt

My urge to destroy returned with a vengeance. I turned my Hummer around.
“Where you going to, Cody?” my mother demanded, her voice frantic.
I didn’t answer, but hit the gas and gunned the Hummer toward Bridie’s old place.
“Cody, where are you going?” my dad demanded.
I stared ahead as I floored it.
“Cody, just stop!” Jenna said. “I know where you’re going! You stop right now, Cody!”
Ignoring all their pleas, I drove on until I pulled up into the parking lot outside Bridie’s old place.
Just in time – I spotted her standing outside Scott’s Roadster in the parking lot.
Scott was still in the driver’s seat, talking on his phone.
I braked and without killing the engine, I hopped out of my Hummer.
Within seconds, my family was running behind me, pleading with me to leave them alone.
Bridie spotted me first. “Cody!” she mouthed, fear in her eyes.
I picked up a brick from the side of the road and walked toward Scott.
“Cody!” Bridie screamed. “What are you doing? STOP!”
I ignored her and walked over to my brother. I was going to smash his skull with the brick until his brains lay all over his Roadster.
His window was opened. Good. When he saw me above him, brick high up in the air, ready to hit him with it, he dropped his phone.
I raised the brick to smash it down his face.
His eyes grew large.
“CODY, NO!” Bridie screamed.
When I looked into Scott’s eyes, I wavered.
He stared, I glared.
I willed myself to do it, to kill Scott.
But I couldn’t do it. He was still my brother.
Even though he stole my girl, even though he hurt me like no one in this world had ever hurt me, I couldn’t hurt him.
How I wished he was some other ahole at that moment.
Frustrated, I booted in the Roadster’s door three times. The door caved into him.
Scott tried to open his door, but the door wouldn’t budge.
He scrambled toward the passenger’s side and tried to open that door, but I dropped the brick and pushed the Roadster until it fell onto its side.
“What are you doing, CODY?” Bridie screamed.
With the Roadster on its side and Scott trying to boot out the BMW’s windshield, I spun around to look at Bridie.
With eyes as big as saucers, she walked backward. “Cody, stop, please!”
I walked faster. She turned and broke into a run, away from me.
There’s no way she could outrun me. I raced after her. She ran faster and in a bad move, toward my Hummer. I caught up with her and grabbed her hair.
“Where the hell are you going to, sister-in-law? Huh? We need to talk.”
“No, leave me alone!” she cried as she tried to free her hair from my fingers.
“You owe me an explanation,” I said, as I dragged her to the Hummer and shoved her into it. I got into the driver’s seat and sped off.
Behind me, Jenna, my mother, and father were running after the Hummer, screaming my name. I didn’t stop.
“Slow down, Cody!” Bridie cried.
“Why? Why should I, huh? Let us both die. Today. NOW!” I stepped on the gas.
“CODY, PLEASE STOP!” she begged.
I flashed her a mirthless smile. “Scared? Huh?”
“Why are you doing this?” She was crying now.
“Because I thought I was in a bad dream, but guess what; it’s true, my brother and my GIRL! Not a dream, honey, just my reality.”
“Cody…”
“Why the hell are you CRYING?” I yelled.
“Cody, I don’t understand; you cheated on me. Why are you acting like you’re so cut, huh?”
“Cheated on you? What are you talking about, BRIDIE? I never cheated on you.”
“You did!”
“When? When did I cheat on you, huh? You talking about that stupid body shot? That was cheating? Huh?”
“No, not the body shot, Cody. The night of the party – you cheated with Nicole!”
“What are you talking about, Bridie? You’re hallucinating. I did not cheat with Nicole.”
“Yes, you did, Cody! I walked into your room and saw you both in bed. I left straight away.”
I shook my head in disbelief. She could lie so blatantly? Fury overtook me. I locked the steering wheel of the Hummer. It slid across the road like it was on snow.
“Today, both of us are going to die,” I warned.

Excerpt

Suddenly, Lexy gasped loudly. "Oh my god, Lil. Turn around right now!"

“Seriously, Lex, this better be something worth looking at.” I turned around again, and that’s when I saw him.

He wasn’t anywhere near as old as the other men in the group. This man was wearing a gray suit with a light blue undershirt that had the top two buttons undone, revealing a muscular, heavily tattooed, hairless chest. His beard was perfectly trimmed around the sides of his face and mouth and his short hair was perfectly edged on all sides. He had one hand on the table and the other by his mouth, revealing an obviously expensive silver watch with a light blue face that was surrounded by diamonds, and his hand and wrist were covered in tattoos. His purple handkerchief was perfectly stuffed into the outside pocket of his jacket.

I couldn’t stop staring. It was like I was watching a model during a photo shoot. His caramel skin was as flawless as the diamond studs in his ears. He opened his mouth to speak to one of the other men and my attention immediately dropped down to his perfectly plump lips. I couldn’t hear anything he was saying, but I watched his gorgeous mouth move until he was done talking. I knew at some point he could look up and see me, but it was like I was stuck in a trance and I couldn’t move. I just kept staring at him. He was physically perfect.

“Okay,” I heard Lexy say from behind me, “make it a little less obvious, Lil. Don’t look like a stalker.”

“Who is that?” I asked as I continued gawking.

“How the hell should I know? Just stop staring. Shit, he’s getting up. Lil, turn around!” ©

About the Author

B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do--she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she's made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to suit the characters that keep popping up just fine.
